The law firm of Beaton Blaikie Nurse & Farrell was formed in September of 1994 with the partnering Carole A. Beaton, D. Alden Blaikie and Terry E. Farrell.

The three young lawyers practiced together until Terry's departure in 1998 to open a sole practice, Terry Farrell, Barrister & Solicitor. Carole and Alden continued to practice together in the partnership of Beaton Blaikie, Barristers & Solicitors.

2001 brought the arrival of Mary Ellen E. Nurse, who joined the firm as an associate in the practice of law.

In December of 2002, Carole A. Beaton was appointed to the Nova Scotia Provincial Court Bench.

In early 2003, Alden, Terry and Mary Ellen formed a new partnership and combined the law offices of Beaton Blaikie and Terry Farrell, to form the present day law firm Beaton Blaikie Nurse & Farrell.
