Alex was born and raised in Halifax, but he has strong connections to Cumberland County on his father's side. His work and school experiences have taken him to the Oil Patch of Alberta, to McGill University in Montreal where he received a B.A. in history, and to a masonry crew in the south of France and a landscaping crew on the island of Nantucket. In addition, for the past five summers he worked as the head guide for a sea-kayaking outfitter.

Shortly after receiving his law degree from Dalhousie University in May 2005, Alex joined Beaton Blaikie Nurse & Farrell as an Articled Clerk. While Alex enjoys exposure to all areas of practice, he is especially enjoying litigation and the large amount of time he gets to spend in Court.
